Easter Eggs and a Freebie!

Good evening everyone!

How is it April 9th already? Time is flying by, I tell ya.

My baby turned one this past Friday which is a definite indicator that time really is flying by. How did this even happen? It feels like yesterday we were finding out we were pregnant and today, we've got a toddler crawling all over the place, almost walking ;)
LOVE this little bundle of joy!

It's also been a whole month since I've gone back to work and it feels like that was only a few days ago. It must mean I'm in good company!
And I am!
My students are such sweethearts I feel so lucky to be their teacher. They are always happy and eager to learn. They give me hugs and drawings which just warms my heart on the daily.

Last week, I picked up some Easter goodies for my kiddos (ok and maybe a few Cadbury eggs for me... but that's not the point!) at Target and decided to get these:

I bought 4 bags of 48 eggs. I just love the gorgeous colors!
(and I also got the adorable pink bin for 7 bucks. Yes please!)
I figured I could use these for a bunch of different things, both in math and in language arts.
I've only used them once but I fully intend on using them some more and then some more again, long after Easter has come and gone.
I mean, eggs are a yearlong product right?

I gave each group of 2 students a bunch of eggs. They opened them in order to use half eggs. This way we had double the quantity and they weren't rolling all over the place. I then gave them a number which they had to represent with the eggs. When they had ten, they would put them over each other, making a little tower. Therefore, the number 32 would be represented with 3 towers and two eggs.

Students had a BLAST. They thought this was the coolest idea since the iPad and have been begging me to do it again ever since.
How I love first graders!

I want to use the eggs again for a synonym hunt as well as for a punctuation activity.
I'll be sure to share when we do!

Do you use Easter eggs in your classroom?
I'd love to hear what you do with them!

Also, if you're looking for a fun activities to do with your kiddos, you can grab my

Class books are always a fun activity that is easy to put together.
Grab it here!

Well that's it for me today.
Talk to you soon!

Easter FREEBIE!

Ok so spring is officially here. However, I do believe that spring has not received the memo! It is definitely NOT looking like spring here in Quebec... :( Not only is it cold... but we got snow this week! And as if that wasn't bad enough.... it turned into a huge storm! We got something like 30+cm of snow..... what??! why? How unnecessary! I am more than ready for the joys of spring to be here! Mostly, the warming weather and the melting of the snow.... but apparently I'm going to have to be a little bit patient... booo :(

And also, I'm now 38 weeks pregnant! 2 weeks to go! Although I do secretely wish she gets here sooner :) I am not tired of being pregnant.... as I've been pretty lucky so far. My belly is rather small so I don't really have any back pain and I'm sleeping well.... But I'm so excited to see Baby S I can't take it anymore! I want her in my arms soon! And I feel like it's taking forever! The closer we get to April 3rd.... the longer the days seem! I'm trying to keep busy so that I don't go crazy but I'm running out of ideas! I went for breakfast with a teacher friend of mine this morning. She had a free period so she had some time for me :) My house is super clean I don't know what to clean anymore! I'm about to wash the walls! My last minute shopping is done, pacifiers and bottles are sterilized, the car seat is ready, the snacks for the hospital are in a lunch box on the counter.... everything is ready! we are overly ready!

Ok enough about me! I've made a little freebie for you all for Easter! Because Easter is right around the corner! And it comes really early this year! So I'm sharing a cute class book you can make with your kiddos! I love class books! They look so cute when all put together :) Here's a look at the book:

You'll find 2 writing options and 3 cover options in this TPT Freebie. You can choose to use only one of the writing templates or do both!

There's also a black and white version in the pack but with different graphics.

So head on over to my TPT store to snag this freebie! I hope you like it! And if you do, I'd love to hear about it :)

So that's it for me today!

Smile! Tomorrow is Friday! :)

Until next time,

Currently and an updated FREEBIE!

Hi!

So, I am officially on break.... for an entire year! Can I get a HOLLA? I cannot believe I will not be going back to school before March... of 2014... For the next year, I will be taking care of baby S and will be able to devote all of my time to her :)

Yesterday was my last day with my kiddos. It was sad. There might have been some tears. I found it very difficult to leave my students just like that... in the middle of the school year. And seeing them sad was heartbreaking! I promised to introduce them to baby S so I will be seeing them again before June. That seemed to make things a little better :)

On a brighter note, I've recently updated a TPT freebie. It looked pretty basic and I had some cute monster clipart that I was dying to use. So I've put them to good use and revamped my I have who has? game. I LOVE playing this game with my students and they love it too! We are always trying to beat our record times. So much fun! If you want to grab a copy simply click HERE. As always, I'd love to know what you think!

And now, it's time for March's Currently! I'm linking up with Farley and you should too! Just saying ;) I love the look of this month's Currently! It reminds me of Lucky Charms cereals... which are simply amazing thank you very much.

1. My bf is watching a documentary about hockey in Canada... so I'm hearing it... but let's be honest here, I'm not watching it. I am NOT a sports person... I'll manage to watch a few games during playoffs if the TV is on... but that's pretty much it. So a documentary? I'll pass.

2. I am so proud of myself for everything I've accomplished today. Yay me! I baked a banana bread, cleaned the washroom, reorganized our kitchen pantry, folded a bunch of baby clothes, made a pot roast for tonight and I was able to squeeze in two episodes of Drop Dead Diva in there too! Which I totally deserved :)

3. As mentionned above, I am now on maternity leave. Well, technically I'm currently on Spring Break and my maternity leave begins next Monday... but it doesn't really matter because whichever way you put it... I'm not going back to work for a whole year! Isn't that crazy? It doesn't even feel real..! Now don't get me wrong, I love my students and I adore my job, but I'm more than ready to have baby S and spending one year with my little girl. I'm not due for an other 4 weeks so I'll have time to do some major house cleaning (as I probably won't have much time for that once she's here!) and get everything ready for her arrival. And who knows? Maybe she'll decide to join us a little early ;)

4. So apparently my busy day has left me pretty tired and I can't even get up for a glass of water. I could blame this on my pregnancy... but I think I'm just lazy :p I'll go grab one as soon as I finish this post.

5. I'm getting my nails done tomorrow and I can't wait. I've recently discovered Shellac manicures and I am in love! It looks super natural which I really like. Plus, the place where I go has TONS of different colors so I always have different looking nails. That's the best part.. choosing the color! I have a sparkly charcoal on right now and I'm thinking about getting a light pink tomorrow. Although I'm scared that with my pasty white winter fingers it won't look as good as it would in the summer... anyways, I'll see!

6. I like spring.... mostly because it means that winter is over. And this year, winter has been particularly brutal with us. The cold, the snow, the storms.... I'm so over it. And spring also means that summer is on its way. What's not to like?
I am a huge candy fan. I could eat candies all. day. long. But obviously I don't because then I'd have to burn too many calories and as previously mentionned above, I am not a sports person ;) Skittles are amazing. I love the sour ones the best. The delicious crunchy exterior and the phenomenal soft interior gets me every time. Great. Now I want some. Good thing I don't have any ;)
I hate snoring. Hate hate hate. Thankfully, my bf is not a snorer. That would definitely be a deal breaker as I cannot sleep if someone is snoring next to me. And by cannot sleep I literally mean no sleep at all. It's the worst sound ever!

Well there you have it my friends!
Have a great weekend and for those of you who started their Spring Break... enjoy your week off!

Until next time,

Spring, Shamrocks and a Free Font!

Wow! I'm a such a great blogger! Please note my intense sarcasm. I have been so out of it with my pregnancy this year that my blog has been more than a little neglected. I'm so sorry! It's just that when I have some free time (which is barely never thank you very much) all I can think about is baby S and getting ready for her arrival!

So anyways, I did manage to get two new products up in my store in the past few days and haven't had time to share them with you. First, I've added a St. Patrick's Day pack. Great for the month of March!

You can find these Irish centers HERE :)

Next, my Spring Centers!  I know, I know.... it's a bit early to be thinking about spring (especially with today's snowstorm..... hello!... I've done my share of cold temperatures and I'm ready for the heat my friends!) but in case you want to get ready with all the cutting and laminating involved in preparing centers, they're there and ready for to be prepped!

You can find these centers HERE :)

Also, I've been playing around with iFont Maker and have a free font to share with you!

This is the font I used for my Shamrocks and Leprechauns Pack! I really like it... and I hope you do to! Feel free to use this font in whatever you would like, just make sure you link back to my blog :) Thanks!
Click here to download the font.

So that's pretty much it for me! Tomorrow and Friday are work days for me and then next week is my last week with my kiddos! Then it's March break and then my maternity leave starts. I'm really excited and a bit scared at the same time. Not being in school for a whole year....wow! I have a feeling I'm going to miss the classroom! But that's just the pregnant me talking I guess. Once baby S is here, I'll be really happy to be able to devote an entire year to my little girl :) And just so you know... I still haven't decided if I like Sofia or Sophia better.... It changes everyday! I feel like I'm never gonna be able to choose, then I'm gonna give birth and I'm gonna have to quickly choose one and I will just name whichever one pops into my head and then I'm gonna regret it!! Anyways I think I need to calm down about this f/ph debate. It's not like it changes the actual pronunciation of the name! But I still fell like it's an important decision and I want to make the right one :)

Have a great evening everyone! I'm off to do some baby laundry :) and then I'm going to watch an episode of Drop Dead Diva, which I've started watching last week. Does anyone watch that show? I LOVE it! It's perfect!

Until next time,

Want to win a copy of one of my new packs? Just leave a comment below telling me you follow my blog and which pack you would like! Don't forget your email. I'll pick a winner tomorrow morning when I wake up :)
Congrats Cathy! I've emailed you my Spring Centers :)

Currently and a free font!

Hi everyone!

With the holidays officially over, I am now able to take some time to blog and blog stalk. I don't go back to work until Monday so I still have a few days to relax and wake up late :) Such joy! The holidays were pretty busy this year but we had lots of fun and got to hang with family so it was great. I hope you all had a great time!

I was lucky enough to get an iPad from my parents! (thanks mom and dad!) Obviously the first app I wanted to try was the iFont Maker. It is so easy to use! I love it! I've made a few fonts but only one is ready. I still need to tweak the others. I ordered a stylus online which I am hoping will arrive soon and which I am hoping will help me make even prettier fonts! So today, I give to you: Miss Handwriting, which is basically my handwriting.

Simply click on the image to download the font. I give it to you for free because I LOVE free fonts and I'm sure you do too :) I simply ask that you link back to my blog if you do use it. And also, a little comment love would be nice ;) Enjoy!

Also, I am linking up with Farley for the first Currently of the year!

1. My boyfriend was sweet enough to start a little fire this morning before breakfast. I love the sound it makes and also the smell :) and mostly.... the warmth! It's been pretty cold up here in Canada the last few days, so I'm enjoying the heat!

2. We worked on Sophia/Sofia's baby room over the holidays. I LOVE it! It is not quite finished yet but the walls are painted, the crib and changing table are there, the crib bedding set is in the crib, the curtains, the hamper... we still need to put up frames and wall decalls but mostly, the room is done. It is so adorable and girly! I am really happy with it! And no, we still haven't decided how we are going to spell her name... I am really having a hard time deciding! I keep thinking I will get a sign or I will suddenly fall in love with the ph or the f.... but no! Oh well, we still have 3 months to figure it out :)

3. I bought a bunch of papers to grade over the holidays thinking I would be super productive... but that has not happened yet. I only have 4 days left before we go back and I really want to do all the work I'd planned on doing but.... I think I might procrastinate for another day or two!

4. I am really loving wedge sneakers. Like this pair:

I wish I didn't because I really do NOT need to be spending right now but they look so pretty! And comfortable too! And with all the after Christmas sales I might be able to snag a cute pair for a pretty good price! :)

5. We already bought a stroller... but it's a pretty huge one! It's mostly made for strolling around, not for outings. We need a smaller one that it more compact. I went stroller shopping over the holidays but I was alone. I need to go back with my boyfriend so that he can try them and figure out what we both like! Stroller shopping can be very overwhleming for first time parents! I had absolutely NO idea what to look for and how to tell if a stroller was a good choice or not. I was lucky enough to find a really nice salesperson who gave me the 411 on strollers and I feel quite informed now. Yay!

6. My OLW is quite simple but it is so important: SMILE! Everything is better when you smile and we often forget to do so. And when you smile, it makes others smile too! So in 2013 I will remember to smile, smile and smile... even when times get tough!

Well that's it for me today! I have to go take down my Christmas decorations. Decorating for Christmas is so much fun... taking the stuff down, not so much... but we have to do it! And I'm not a big fan of decorations that stay there forever once the holidays are over!

Until next time,

Currently and a fun BTS activity [and FREEBIE!]

Hi everyone!

It's time for a new currently! (ok well it was time a week ago but I'm late.... so sorry!)

So here we go for August:

1. Watching the Olympics... it's pretty much all we've been doing since they started! But I love it! I love the fact that everyone is watching the same thing at the same time and rooting for their country! Right now it's boxing... not my favorite but still!

2. I can't wait to go back to school! Every summer, when August rolls around I'm ready to go back! I know I know... hello weirdo! I mean I love summer and I really LOVE not having to wake up early in the morning, being able to spend entire days by the pool not worrying about a thing, spending the day in my pjs! Yes, I love all those things but now, I've had enough :) And I love the first weeks of school! I love decorating my classroom, meeting my new students, getting to know them, explaining procedures, rules, activities...etc.... So I'm excited to go do all of that!

3. I started my summer off thinking I would accomplish SO many things! Wow have I been lazy! I really need to pick up the pace!!

4. Back to school shopping (for clothes!) is so much fun! I love started the year with a few fresh tops, pants, dresses and shoes! It makes me love bts even more! I've purchased a few items over the summer that I haven't worn because I'm keeping them for school. I've had to refrain from wearing them which was very difficult. But if I wear them now, then they don't feel new anymore once I start wearing them in September... so I've been good :)

5. I am in need of a fresh pedi! For me that means it's a week old. I re-do my pedi and choose a new nail polish every week. Sometimes I'll go get it done but I get tired of the color so fast that I'd just rather do it myself! I'm thinking I'll go with a coral polish next :)

6. I need TONS of laminating sheets! So many things I want to laminate! Also, my adorable lunch box past away last year and I ended the year using plastic grocery bags...not so fashionable! I want to go shopping for a new one and hope to find one as cute as the one I had! And last, I need bins and baskets to decorate and organize my classroom.

Head on over to Oh'Boy 4th Grade to link up!

Next, I wanted to share a fun back to school activity that I just love doing with my kids! I try to do it on the first day of school but if you do it during the first week it would still be fine :)
I call it: The Time Capsule!!
Students fill out their time capsule with the favorites of the moment (color, food, movie, etc.) Then, I pick up all of the sheets and hide them somewhere in the classroom where they won't find them. On the very last day, I take out the Time Capsules (which sometimes they didn't even remember they'd done them!). I give them the same sheet as in September (a new blank one) and they fill it out again. Then, I give them the one they wrote in September and they can compare their favorites! Students love it! They laugh when they see what they'd written and how they favorites have changed! You would think not much would change in 10 months but oh boy! It does!

If you would like to do this activity, which is pretty quick and simple, here is your Time Capsule FREEBIE!
Click on the image to download it with Google Docs.

Ok well time for breakfast!

Until next time,

Father's Day Freebie!

Good evening everyone!!

Woohooo!!! I'm halfway to 100! I'm at 52 followers! Yay!!! Thanks everyone :)

End of years are so exhausting! So many things to do and think of! I'm so scared of forgetting something :s As you know, I teach grade 6 so I also have to plan graduation activities, do a yearbook and we are going on a trip! But the kids make it all worth it so it's all good :)

I made a little Father's Day writing prompt and I wanted to give it away as a freebie! It's a cute My Dad, My Hero writing activity. My dad has always been my hero (hehe!) and when the kiddos are young, isn't it what they all say?! Their dad is the strongest, the best, the funniest... :) their hero!!

So click on the image to download it with Google Docs :)

Hope you like it! And I'm still quite new so hopefully I've mastered Google Docs and you will be able to dowload the file :)

Until next time,

Contractions FREEBIE!

Good morning fellow bloggers!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend :) For Canadian bloggers, hope you are enjoying this great long weekend!!! I know I am!

I woke up really early this morning (thank you singing birds :p) and decided to make a fun I have, who has? game. (BTW, I've never played I have, who has?.... I've only recently found out about it through TPT.... but I'm really excited to try it!! Have you ever played? Am I the only teacher in the world who didn't know about this game? ;)

My students have a hard time with contractions and I wanted to find a fun way of reviewing them without being too grammar-ish. So I decided to do a game! And we all know the great reaction we get when we tell our kids we will play a GAME!! (Even if it's grammar oriented.... the teacher said we're gonna play a GAME!!)

So here it is:

Click here to download this FREEBIE! If you do, I would really appreciate feedback!! :) Thanks!

I would also like to thank all of my new followers! I'm almost at 50! yay! :)

Until next time,

Mother's Day Craft FREEBIE!

Good afternoon fellow teachers!

With mother's day right around the corner, you are probably all in the process of having your kids write cards and  make gifts for mothers and grand-mothers. If you are still looking for something to do for the occasion, here's a cute cupcake your kids can make. It can double as a card or any other idea that you can think of. Moms often love to bake and I figured a cupcake was a cute idea!

Here 's what mine looks like:

If you want, you could choose to not have your kids put the I heart mom letters and have them right a little message instead.

And of course, I'm giving you the templates for free!! :)

Click here to download the cupcake top + letters template.
Click here to download the cupcake liner template.

I am doing this with my kiddos tomorrow but my colleague has done it today and they look super cute!! I took colored paper but she took cardstock. Both seem to work well. However, her cardstock had really flashy colors, almost neon, and it looked amazing!! Very springy!!

If you do choose to download the cupcake, I would love to hear from you ;)

Until next time,
